Previous Blog Entry Next Blog Entry

EBSCO has announced that it has partnered with Newstex to begin to return select blog post results alongside other search results in its databases.  As Paul Pival and David Rothman wonder, how does one get one’s blog listed here, and why aren’t here any LIS blogs listed?  The press release is rather vague:

Unlike existing Web-based blog aggregation services, Newstex actually licenses influential blog content directly from independent bloggers and then takes in each carefully selected blog feed in text format and uses its proprietary NewsRouter technology to scan it in real-time.

Again–how do they decide what content to license?  And I don’t really see how this is different from other blog aggregators or search engines, except that Newstex is deciding what blogs you should be reading, instead of you deciding that on your own.  I question this in so, so many ways.
