So here’s the thing (and this is with help from my software developer and Internet culture aficionado husband): that’s only Google Web Search and doesn’t count Gmail or Google Calendar or Google Docs or Google Reader or the many other services and products Google offers. Furthermore, Google Web Search is designed to send visitors to other places whereas Facebook is designed to keep people on its own site, and links that leave Facebook still count as Facebook traffic because they wrap everything in a frame that has Facebook navigation and sharing options.

Alexa still ranks Google over Facebook by a wide margin.
