The next issue of American Libraries has a cover article entitled “10 Technology Ideas Your Library Can Implement Next Week.”   Each idea is a portion of text from one of the ten books in the upcoming Neal-Schuman Tech Set series.  I am the author of the book on technology training, so be sure to check it out.  The ideas are concrete, and while some will certainly take more than a week to implement, you can get started on all of them today :)

“10 Technology Ideas for your library, today”

  1. Tim Burns Says:

    Dear Sarah,
I am moving to a new library – new job as manager of adult services. The library is smaller (one library no branches) but it meets my philosopical needs perfectly. I need some good locations to learn more about technology. I am already a subscriber to your blog – I need some other places to preview that will give me more information on how to help my staff and our patrons.
    Tim

  2. Sarah Houghton-Jan (Librarian in Black) Says:

Hi Tim! I would highly recommend following Mashable (http://mashable.com) & Lifehacker (http://lifehacker.com) – two general “tech” blogs (but you can also follow them on Twitter if you prefer). If you’re looking for more library technology blogs to follow, try the ALA TechSource http://www.alatechsource.org/blog), the LITA blog (http://litablog.org/), David Lee King’s blog (http://www.davidleeking.com/), and Meredith Farkas’s ‘Information Wants to Be Free’ (http://meredith.wolfwater.com/wordpress/). There are so many others, but that should get you started!
