You can download MP3 audiobooks directly from your Droid. Download Overdrive to your phone (I either got it from my state's audio library website (mine's Listen Up! Vermont) or through the marketplace, then just go to the audiobook library website on your phone's browser, select your books, check them out, and download them, just like you would on your computer. You then listen to the book on your phone through the overdrive console. If you click out of the program to use other phone features, it will remember where you were or you can use bookmarks. I've only had luck so far with the books already formatted as MP3, my phone (Droid Eris) couldn't transfer the other files.

I'm at the reference desk trying to figure this out and it's confusing. So I still need to download software to my computer in order to transfer my audiobook to the Droid? Since I can't install software on the library computers, I guess I'll have to figure this out later. What would actually be cool is if you could just download directly to the Droid with no computer. I'm paying enough for the unlimited data plan!

That's awesome news! Droid has better DRM which is probably why they were first, it can self-destruct the audiobook after three weeks. Ipods and Iphones don't have that capability. The only way Overdrive is Ipod compatible is to provide DRM-free audiobooks. Thank you for sharing this.
