Neil Gaiman affirms importance of audio books
December 2, 2009
For an upper, take a listen to NPR’s Open Mic with Neil Gaiman: “Heard Any Good Books Lately?” Gaiman discusses his own experiences with audio books and interviews others, including a representative from Audible.com and David Sedaris. You’ll hear an affirmation of reading’s impact on people, specifically the impact (and legitimacy) of audio books on people.
And no, audio books have certainly not died. Our downloadable audio books statistics are through the roof. Clearly this is a niche that needs filling. And if people are willing to put up with all the ridiculous digital rights management on library audio eBooks, then hey…that tells me that the journey to get that download is one they’re worth taking no matter what.
