And as I don't believe every article I see on the inter-webs (e.g. the one you linked to), I did a bit more digging. According to Wikipedia, the westernmost point of the contiguous United States (not including small islands that are not contiguous), is Cape Alava, Washington at 124.73306c. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_points_of_the_United_States However, the National Park Service does indeed confirm the information I have. See the NPS page, 2nd paragraph: http://www.nps.gov/pore/parknews/newsreleases_20090930_lighthousefencing.htm According to several sources, the Point Reyes Lighthouse is at 123.02325°W. So...yes, it would appear that Cape Alava is further west...which is curious.
