The ever-generalist USA Today has published an article chronicling difficult times in libraries due to the recession: "U.S. Libraries on Borrowed Time?"  Reporter Marisol Bello cites statistics and dollar amounts for libraries across the U.S. being forced to close branches, reduce services, or lay off staff.  While not an in-depth story, it does expose the general public to the issue at hand: we have no money to serve them at the time in which they need us most.
