There are so many options for online book clubs today…it’s hard to keep them all in my head.  Our teen librarians at the San Jose Public Library started a group through LibraryThing, luv2read, that has had a totally decent amount of participation, though we want to push it a bit harder for the new school year to get more teens aware of it.

Another tool sprung up in my peripheral vision today.  Booksprouts is a site to help book clubs organize.  Once you’re sign up for Booksprouts, you can choose to crate a new club or join an existing one.  You can make clubs private or public, let people vote on books to read, and more.  Such a tool could be used to help oomph up your in-person book clubs online presence, or to create some new online-only book clubs.  Take a look at this tool if you are book-clubber, a public services librarian, or a webmaster at a library.  Between those three groups somebody’s bound to see something they think is useful.
