RSS Uses

April 1, 2008

If your library has been pondering integration of RSS into its website and are looking for potential uses, Cheryl Wolfe, The Moxie Librarian, has a great starter list: 10 Ways Libraries Can Use RSS.

“RSS Uses”

  1. Cheryl Wolfe Says:

Sarah, thanks for the link love!

I would also like to see more library RSS feeds promoted on non-library webpages. For example, a link to a public library’s news feed on the county website.

  2. Sarah Houghton-Jan (LiB) Says:

That is a very good idea Cheryl. I know that many city, county, and university libraries do lobby their parent organizations for placement. The sad thing is that a lot of the time the library is technologically ahead of the parent org’s IT staff, and they aren’t even aware of how RSS can be used in that way. So, it becomes a teachable moment for everyone which is a good thing :)

LiB's simple ground rules for comments:

  1. No spam, personal attacks, or rude or intolerant comments.
  2. Comments need to actually relate to the blog post topic.
