Fac-Back-OPAC
December 3, 2007
Open source makes the Sarah smile. The October issue of Computers in Libraries featured an article about an open source faceted searching technology that has been implemented in several libraries now: "Fac-Back-OPAC:
An Open Source Interface to Your Library System"
by Mike Beccaria and Dan Scott. For an example of what this open source code can do for your catalog, see the implementation at the Paul Smith’s College Library Catalog (click here to see the search results for "beatles"). You can read more, and find more resources related to the project, at the Fac-Back-OPAC Google Code project page.
