I’ve been quoted in a real non-library book!
Thanks to Aaron Schmidt for letting me know that I’ve been quoted in a new book: Everything is Miscellaneous by technologist and commentator David Weinberger. In it, he talks about information classification and information science as it has been affected by the web, social networking, etc. The book is already #360 on Amazon’s list (as of this moment), and it’s only been out for a week.
Karen Schneider and are both included for our discussions following Michael Gorman’s "Blog People" article (you know, the one that spawned Gormangate). My post, Michael Gorman is Irresponsible, is referenced.
I must admit, it’s neat seeing my name in an index. I think it’s great that I got called out for doing one of my trademark posts to which many of my well-meaning but weaker-willed friends say "Oh my gosh, you shouldn’t have posted that!" There have been a lot of posts like that on this site, as you know, criticizing people, institutions, companies, products, you name it. I call them like I see them, am honest about my evaluations and interpretations, and I don’t pull punches. And it thrills me to the core that a post of that nature is what got into a cool mainstream media book. Speaking of which, I’m off to my local bookstore to pick up a copy

I’m using it in my dissertation! The photo you see was the copy on my disseratation work table (formerly the dining room table), that AAron was persuing before dinner last night. Good for him for Flickering it!

That is swell
A good book to use in a Michael dissertation! I bought it last night (let me go off on a Borders rant some other time), but I did manage to walk out the door with the book in hand, and read a few pages last night. It’s highly insightful, and full of “yeah, duh” conclusions that amazingly, no one else seems to have thought of before (not that I’ve read or heard anyway). Good stuff, that Weinberger!
