Meredith Farkas’s book, Social Software in Libraries, is coming soon!  Put in a pre-order for your library’s LIS collection, get a copy for yourself–whichever you prefer.  It’s cheapest at Amazon–a mere $26.07 (Info Today is charging the full $39.50–that’s something that’s always made me wonder…why can’t/don’t publishers usually compete with Amazon?).

Anyway, go buy Meredith’s book.  There is a foreword by Roy Tennant, which ups the ante on any book.  I haven’t seen the book myself yet, but I’m sure that the reviews are accurate, and it’ll be chock-full of nuggets of wisdom from Meredith on the ever-present topic of social software.

“New Social Software book for libraries!”

I can’t speak for InfoToday, but after looking at the discussions about ISBNs and pricing at Lulu, I suspect the answer is Ingram & other book distributors: Publishers are not supposed to undercut bookstores and other retailers. It’s actually not an unreasonable principle.

That’s a pretty heavyweight discount for Amazon!
