eBooks Forum

January 4, 2007

Recently I worked with Califa‘s Anthony Costa (my successor to the post of IT Section President for the California Library Association) to write an informational piece about eBooks for the Califa website.

The eBooks Forum is an eleven-part series of articles about various aspects of eBooks in libraries, along with a section at the end through which comments questions can be submitted to Anthony and me, which we’ll respond to.  We cover the current state of eBook technology, purchase models, major vendors, free eBooks, digital rights management, incorporating eBooks into your existing print collection, implementation best practices, eVideo, eMusic, and more.  There is a lot of good content, if I do say so myself.  You don’t need to be in California to use it, even though Califa is a membership-driven organization for libraries in California.  Consider it a gift from our lovely state :)

    What a terrific resource! Thanks!

How in the world do you find the time for all this??!?!??

  2. Lori Ayre Says:

Nice work, Sarah and Anthony. I just read it cover to cover (so to speak)!

  3. Theresa Chaze Says:

How are ebooks included in your program. I have several novels out in ebook format. I would be willing to donate copies of them to your program.
    Thanks

  4. Sarah Houghton-Jan (LiB) Says:

You’d have to talk to the library eBook platform vendors (like OCLC/NetLibrary and Overdrive). They get their books from publishers directly, not individual authors.
