RSS feed ads

Looking to make some money off of your RSS feeds with advertising? A Feed is Born has a good post listing some of the companies willing to pay you for adspace in your feed. RSS ads make me sad, but they are an inevitable part of our world now.

I completely agree – RSS ads are SAD! We have been approached by a couple companies that wanted to put ads in our rss feed.. Our policy is No Ads in the RSS. I understand the need to monetize a site to help cover bandwidth, hosting, etc… but it seems that marketers try to monetize every stinking component of a website, and end up ruining a potentially useful site. I personally subscribe to over 700 feeds, and unsubscribe to feeds that become ad-ridden without hesitation.

Oh, you are very welcome! A plethora of ads in any medium (RSS, web, TV, radio) turns me off immediately. I don’t want that to happen here.

That’s true Karen…and for LII, which is in funding crisis, RSS ads might make sense. They still do, though, make me sad.
