Huh.  Vivisimo and MSN?  That’s an odd combination in my head, but never mind that…

Gary Price writes that Vivisimo was awarded the contract to provide search technology for FirstGov, the US Government’s official portal.  MSN Search is also said to be playing an important part in the search services.  Results will theoretically have Vivisimo’s tell-tale clustering hierarchy, which I think would be a wonderful improvement.

I recommend FirstGov during my Free, Fast, and Factual: Top Online Reference Sources class, but often with a caveat that the search doesn’t work very well.  If all goes smoothly I should be able to remove that caveat.  Keep your fingers crossed.
