The House and Senate are about to reintroduce legislation to reauthorize the USA PATRIOT Act.  ALA is asking librarians to contact federal representatives to let them know if you have concerns about the PATRIOT Act and the needed (and currently missing) protections of privacy for library users under sections 215 and 505.  ALA’s website has an easy webform (scroll down a bit to see it) which will automatically send the messages to your representatives.
