On This Day

April 15, 2005

The BBC has launched a site with "what happened on this day in history": On This Day.  You can search by month and date, and browse by year, theme, witness accounts, and BBC correspondents covering the events.  They also have an RSS feed with daily "what happened on this day" events.  I’m thinking this would come in handy for all of those "what happened on my birthday" projects (you can browse through the year and see what’s listed for that date) and perhaps for coming up with book display ideas.  Plus, it’s just gosh darn interesting.

“On This Day”

  1. K.G. Schneider Says:

What do we call these things? We have a bunch of them in LII and naming them is elusive.

  2. Sarah Houghton (Librarian in Black) Says:

I always think of them as “on this day” or “on this day in history…” Depending on how they’re presented, you can also think of them as historical timelines…
