Jybe 2.0

April 19, 2005

JYBE‘s new release is out today and includes co-scrolling (ooh!), collaborative text entry in forms, e-mail invites, and document conversions.  It works in Firefox and IE.  Very cool.  It seems that Jybe is picking up all the features and nifty capabilities that our (much more) heavyweight web-based chat software has had a corner on for so long.  It does require a plug-in to be downloaded (a nice sleek toolbar for your browser) in order to use it, but I still think it’s much easier and less trouble prone (at least in my experiments) than the web-based chat software I’ve been exposed to.  Keep an eye on JYBE.  I have a feeling it will be revolutionizing the way that libraries offer reference services online.
