Did you know that the Internet Archive is offering a library digitization project in direct competition with Google’s project?  You did?  That means you read other library tech blogs.  You didn’t?  Then, read on dear friend…

So far, 10 libraries have signed on for the IA project, including Carnegie Mellon and the Library of Congress.  Keep an eye on this…I think we will end up seeing some rivalry between the two projects as they try to sign on additional libraries, and maybe we’ll even see some cooperation between the two projects.  You can find out more about the Internet Archive project at http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=25361
