Google is now offering video search

Google Video enables you to search a growing archive of televised content…Right now we’re just testing this product, so you’ll find programs only from a limited number of channels, which we’ve been indexing since late December 2004." These channels include PBS, C-SPAN, C-SPAN2, Fox News, and four San Francisco Bay Area stations.

It utilizes the closed captioned text of these programs.  I’m thinking that if it works well, it could come in handy for those questions like: "I saw a segment on PBS last night about the tsunami…what was that website they mentioned?"  I can see this kind of database getting amazingly huge over time though, but hey–Google can handle it :)

    Yes, and it looks like a goldmine if they support the actual video content, as well. However, no luck with any actual video content as of yet.
