Speegle

November 11, 2004

Speegle will read search results to you.  You even get to choose the gender of the voice and the "verbosity" (if it reads you the title, URL, description, or a combination thereof).  I found the voice to be mostly intelligible, though, as with all machine voices, things get funkified (e.g. “LIS” read as “liss” and “ambigrams” read as “ambuhgrems”). It is a UK site, so perhaps some of that is that lovely British accent ;) Pretty cool, and something to consider adding to any disability resources lists you might have going at your library. Oh yes, and they also offer read-aloud news feeds from the BBC, Reuters, the NYT, and MSN.
