Open ILS

November 21, 2004

A theme I heard repeated over and over at both the California Library Association Annual Conference & Internet Librarian was "Why aren’t the ILS vendors more responsive to library needs?"  Answer: because they figure you have so much time & money invested in their product already that they can do (or not do) whatever they want, and you will still continue with their product out of the sheer fear of transitioning to a different ILS.  Looking for a different way?  Check out the folks at the Open ILS blog as they create an open source library automation system.
